
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake emphasized the requirement for the Ministry of Sports and Sports Associations to team up on joint initiatives targeted at elevating Sri Lankan sports to the global stage.The President stressed that instead of separated efforts such as merely dispersing sports equipment, the focus needs to shift toward structured and impactful programs that support long-lasting sports development, the Presidents Media Division (PMD) said.The President made these remarks during a development review conference of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports held today (16) at the Presidential Secretariat.The conference evaluated the institutional progress of the Ministry of Sports, the National Youth Services Council and the National Youth Corps.
The President was briefed on the current projects being implemented by these institutions and the programmes aimed at youth advancement throughout the country, the PMD added.During the conversation, the President kept in mind that, similar to industrialized countries, sports can bring not just social benefits however likewise significant financial returns.
He closely took a look at the Ministrys sports development efforts and required a more strategic approach.Attention was also drawn to the YOUTH CLUB program of the National Youth Services Council.
