
The Colombo High Court has actually ordered that the petition submitted by previous Minister Duminda Dissanayakewho is currently in remand custody in connection with the seizure of a gold-plated T-56 firearmbe taken up for hearing on July 14, 2025.
The case was taken up today (June 30) before Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne.Presidents Counsel Sampath Mendis appeared on behalf of the petitioner and presented facts to court.After considering the submissions, the High Court Judge specified that it is suitable to proceed with a questions into the petition, based on the realities presented.The Judge kept in mind that, according to the reports submitted, the appropriate examination files have been forwarded to the Attorney General and are currently under review.Highlighting that the third suspect in the event has already been launched on bail by the Magistrates Court, the High Court Judge directed the State Counsel to present additional proof relating to the suspects declaration to cops on the next hearing date.Accordingly, the petition was scheduled to be called for hearing on July 14.
